The fishing in Pine Island Sound this past week has been phenomenal. Catching loads of fish has been as simple as spotting the birds. If you're traveling along the Intracoastal Waterway, be on the lookout for groups of pelicans, terns, gulls, and any other seabirds active near the surface of the water. If the birds are diving, it’s very likely that there are gamefish pushing bait to the surface below them. Casting almost any variety of lure into these feeding frenzies results in bite after bite from jacks, ladyfish, sea trout, bluefish, and Spanish mackerel.
